Ruby Peters, Elise Monaghan and Paige Davies all qualified for the event on November 3 to 5.
Davies, 11, earned second prize for her performance on the beam and placed sixth for her floor routine.
“I was really nervous at the event. To calm my nerves, I just thought about something really good instead of thinking about how nervous I was,” she said.
This was the first time Davies had competed at such a high standard and in an arena of that size.
“It was really cool. It makes me want to try a bit harder knowing what I can do and what I need to do,” she said.
Stawell Gymnastics coach Elissa Chalmers said regardless of the results, she was delighted the trio participated at the event.
“It was great to have representatives from our club qualify for the event. They all tried really well and should be proud of their efforts,” she said.
The event was the highest level the gymnasts could compete in, considering their current level.
“It was such a nice and friendly atmosphere. There was a great team environment among other clubs,” Chalmers said.
Davies said she loved gymnastics because it was fun.
“I love to do all of my flips,” she said.
The gymnasts will compete in the last competition of the year at Natimuk this weekend.
“Our sights will then turn to our interview display which will be on December 10,” Chalmers said.
