Stawell Racing Club hosted more than 200 students, who got up close to the cup and met a friendly guest, 2015 Melbourne Cup winner Prince of Penzance.
Club manager Mark Percival said the students had a terrific time and it was a great experience.
“The students also heard racing stories from two-time Melbourne Cup-winning trainer Mick Robins,” he said.
The cup also visited Stawell Regional Health and Eventide Homes where residents held the trophy and share their own racing memories with Mick Robins.
Eventide Homes received a surprise visit from Stawell clerk of the course, Hughie O'Sullivan, and ‘Danny’ the horse.
The Gift Hotel hosted the Melbourne Cup at a fundraiser for the Stawell branch of the Riding for the Disabled group during the evening.
Cup legends were in attendance and residents had the opportunity to see and touch this year’s Melbourne Cup.
