Jon Park’s rink was in great touch, winning by 26 shots.
Stawell Golf elevated themselves to premiership favourites with a comprehensive win over Aradale.
Once again, Brian Adamson’s rink lead the way with a big win by 27 shots to set up the victory.
Greg Reading’s rink also had a comfortable win to ensure the home team got all the points.
In a surprise result, Ararat VRI picked up the win over last year’s premiers at Chalambar.
It has been a long time since the VRI team has tasted success up on the Chally green, and it goes to show how even the pennant competition is.
All three rinks were very close with VRI winning two rinks with Shane Griggs up by seven shots, while Jesse Austin managed to get Chally two points for the day.
Stawell played Ararat in a clash between two teams that always seem to have close results.
Stan Meale played well to get a good win by 10 shots for the visitors. Andrew Cray is enjoying the armchair ride his team is providing and won by 10 shots, while Andrew Sharp, after a slow start, got up by nine to get the win for the Stawell team.
DIVISION 2
Ararat Green bounced back from their poor performance in round 1 with a good win at home over Lake Bolac Red, winning two rinks with Alan Grant up by 15 shots.
Ararat VRI rocketed to the top of the ladder with a big win over Lake Bolac Black, Noel Billet had a massive win by 27-shot to set up the victory for the home team.
Stawell Blue, last year’s premiers, bounced back for a loss in round 1 with a good win over Stawell Gold.
Denise Troeth was in great form, up by 16 shots, while Terry Griffin tried his best for the Gold team, winning by 15.
Aradale were the team with the close result again this week, getting a win by just three shots over Stawell Golf Blue. New recruit Norm Tiley again set up the win, up by nine shots on the day.
Stawell Golf Gold bounced back from their first-round loss with a big win over the Ararat Gold team. Terry Ellis was again in top form, up by 25 shots, and must be pressing for a spot in the top side at some stage. Les Montgomery and Mikey Habben both had good wins as well.
