The best and fairest winner for 2018 has secured a spot at St Mary’s Football Club under head coach Brent Renouf.
Renouf is a former AFL footballer who played for the Hawthorn Football Club and the Port Adelaide Football Club.
Taylor, aided by Swifts president Steve Hoffmann, touched base with the club to express his interested in joining them.
“The club has supported me with accommodation and employment, it’s been a great transition so far,” he said.
Taylor completed his first training session on Tuesday. He will play in the premier league side in the first game of the season on Saturday.
“My first training went really well. I was expecting it to be a lot hotter,” he said.
“The humidity will be something I will need to work through as time goes on”.
Taylor will return in March to play for the Swifts and is looking forward to the opportunity to sharing his experience with the club.
“I am looking forward to learning a lot under high profile coaches and to share that knowledge when I return,” he said.
Taylor will be joined at St Mary’s by Minyip-Murtoa’s Kieran Delahunty.
Other players from across the Wimmera have also made the move north.
Southern Mallee Giants’ Brock Orval, Sam Weddell and James Wray will all feature for the Waratah Warriors.
