The Baggies will take on Taylors Lake in the first contest of the day at Horsham City Oval, with a close one expected.
“The kids are very excited. It is the first grand final for a fair few of them so it will be a pretty special day one way or another,” Swifts coach Damon Folkes said.
Swifts finished atop the under-14 ladder at the end of the season, losing just two games.
They lost one of those games to the Lakers, but beat them the other two times they played. One of those wins was just two weeks ago in the semi-final, winning by one-goal to advance to the grand final.
“They will be a hard team to beat, I don’t expect it to be an easy game,” Folkes said.
“We were a bit lucky to get over the line last time so we will have to work hard to get another win on Saturday.”
Folkes said the team has been a “pleasure to coach” this season and he hopes they can top of a great year with a win.
“They have been a great group of kids to coach and I have enjoyed it a lot,’ he said.
This year is the second year in a row the Baggies have had a junior side in a football grand final. Their under-17 football side won the premiership last season in good signs for the club’s future.
“It is great for the club,” Folkes said.
“It shows we are doing the right things with our junior program.”
The under-14 grand final will start at 8.30am on Saturday at Horsham City Oval.
