The gala, previously in May, was postponed for this year to coincide with the re-opening of the town hall.
The ball will return to its regular booking next year.
Honorary secretary Dianne Radford said the event was an “outstanding success”.
“It is overwhelming to see the generosity of a great community who support the fundraiser,” she said.
More than 260 people attended the 17th annual black tie event.
Ms Radford said she was pleased with the attendance numbers.
“We had a great response from our loyal supporters, our team captains, who invite guests to their tables,” she said.
The Ararat branch was established in 2002 in memory of Sergeant John McNally, a local policeman who was killed on the goldfields at Mount Ararat on October 16, 1856.
Ms Radford said the branch wanted to raise $30,000 this year.
“We are well and truly on track to get target,” she said.
All money raised goes towards East Grampians Health Service. About $900,000 has been donated for medical facilities and equipment.
The committee announced on the night they are now in discussions with the health service to support a new project for 2018.
The gala is one of two annual fundraisers, the other being Grampians ‘Ride to Remember’ in February.
