Windy conditions made scoring difficult in the final, with most of the play taking place at one end of the ground.

“It was pretty horrible weather in Ballarat,” Storm coach Krystal Cameron said.

“There wasn’t a lot in the game with the wind playing a big impact.”  The experienced players of the Storm stood up in the difficult weather to lead their team to a 1.10 (16) to 2.1 (13) victory.

“Leading into the last quarter I think it dawned on the girls what was at stake and they really stepped up,” Cameron said.

“We really took control in that last quarter. It wasn’t pretty but we were able to hold them off which is what counts.” The Storm boasts a very mixed side of experience and fresh faces, with Sunday the first final many of the girls have experienced.

“The girls really understood the difference between a normal season game and a final I think,” Cameron said.

“The more experienced girls had a big part to play but overall it was a team effort.”

Isabel kettle celebrated her 50^th match in the final win.

“I think that might have been a bit more of an incentive for the girls to win. They sang the song with plenty of gusto,” Cameron said.

The Storm will take on Ballarat Swans next Sunday in a preliminary final, with Lake Wendouree awaiting the winner in the grand final.

“At the end of the day it doesn’t matter who we play, we back ourselves against anyone,” Cameron said.
