A 25-year-old-man was arrested by police in St Arnaud on Saturday night after crashing into a parked car.
Police said the man was driving a stolen red Volkswagen Polo when the collision occurred.
St Arnaud police Sergeant Bill Alford said the man allegedly committed numerous offences, before colliding into a parked four-wheel-drive.
“Police were called to George Street in St Arnaud where the collision occurred on June 30,” he said.
“He was interviewed by police and has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle as well as other offences.
“He has been bailed and is due to face St Arnaud Magistrates' Court on August 2.”
The ‘destroyed’ red Volkswagen Polo was returned to the owner, Sergeant Alford said.
The four-wheel-drive was also damaged.
Also on June 30, police arrested a 24-year-old St Arnaud man for evading police.
The man allegedly drove on Sunraysia Highway at 180 km/h on June 24.
“It is believed the man had two passengers in the car at the time,” Sergeant Alford said.
The man evaded police at the time.
Police arrested the St Arnaud man at his residence on June 30.
“He was interviewed by police for putting his passengers at risk and for evading police.
“He was charged for evading police.”
The man was bailed and is due to face the St Arnaud Magistrates' Court on August 2.
