Grampians Excavations will retain 25 per cent of the shareholding in the company.
Grampians Excavations co-founder Jim Leithhead said he will continue to manage the day to day business of the company.
“I’ll be doing the same thing but with more help from engineers, estimators and people in other roles,” he said.
Mr Leithhead said it was time for the business to be acquired.
“It’s a good way to build business,” he said.
Civilex managing directors Joe Bartolo and Andrew Farbain said they would add extra jobs at the company, employing 20 to 30 more people.
The company currently has approximately 35 employees.
The directors said they would make improvements, including more contracts and looking for Adelaide work.
“Our decision to acquire part of the company was purely strategic,” they said.
“The company has a good reputation and it’s in a fantastic location.
“We will also value Mr Leithhead’s expertise.”
