After a slow start, the Warriors booted 7.10 (52) to 1.3 (9) to finish fifth at the end of the second Deakin University Female Football League season, one spot higher than last year.
Stawell coach Rod Summers said he saw continued development throughout the season with a focus on team.
“We really emphasised that we are one team. We had no captain so everyone was equal,” he said.
“For the whole year all the other coaches and I have seen is 100 per cent effort which has resulted in their skills and team work improving.
“I have been really proud watching them develop and improve.”
Summers said Sunday’s victory was a reward for the effort his team has put in.
“Even though we were battling for fifth and sixth it felt like we won the grand final afterwards,” he said.
“This season has been about three things; playing as a team, having fun and with those two improvement would come.
“We have created an environment where the girls felt welcome, improved and enjoyed playing and training.
“Their development was on show on Sunday.”
Summers said the support from the community has contnued to grow for female football in the second year of competition.
“To all the volunteers and everyone who has supported us thank you, the girls really appreciate it.”
The Hamilton Kangaroos took out the DUFFL 2018 premiership.
