Impressive contraptions were put together at Minyip and Warracknabeal as coaches and club officials took the plunge into some ice cold water to raise funds for Fight Motor Neurone Disease.
Horsham Saints president Mick Morris was one of those volunteers to face the dunk following the senior game between the Warrack Eagles and Saints.
“It was a really good day and I’m not one too keen to jump into a tank on a cold day like it was on Saturday, but for a cause like that it was certainly a well worthwhile thing to do,” he said.
“We had a fundraiser with the socks through the week and will be making a donation. Then it was $5 to throw a ball at the tank to try and dunk one of us in the water. We had raffles as well so it was all for a good cause.
“There was a nice breeze there and it was all pretty cold. They had the win in the seniors but we stood around after and did this with them and they’re a great club and we fully supported it all.
“Warrack Eagles president Adrian Bibby was dunked too and our secretary John McIntyre as well. Then an array of their coaches went through as well. It was probably warmer in the tank than it was standing outside of it. It was a well orchestrated day on their behalf.”
At Jeparit following the Jeparit-Rainbow versus Kalkee clash, senior Storm coaches were auctioned off and faced an ice bucket challenge.
Storm president Jason Hutson said his club raised just more than $3000 for Fight MND.
“We sold out of the Fight MND beanies and socks and only had a few of the broaches left,” he said.
“It was a great night and just to be part of helping them find a cure for MND, that’s the main thing everyone is trying to strive for. Everyone hung around and supported it pretty well.
“We also had the Kalkee senior coach Hamish Exell and A Grade coach Jaymi O’Connor come on board for the ice bucket challenge.”
