A six-goal-to-one first quarter set the standard for the day before the home-side claimed a 19.10 (124) to 6.2 (38) win. The Roos were able to stem the bleeding in the second and third terms before conceding another six majors in the fourth quarter.
Despite the size of the margin, Stawell co-coach Damian Joiner said his side still has room to improve.
“We still played pretty patchy footy and were a bit up and down throughout the game,” he said.
“We were making simple skill errors as well. But to win by that much in a game where we didn’t play amazingly is a positive.
“Once we get some continuity and more match time in I think we will see some serious improvement.”
David Andrivon kicked a bag of five goals and Nicholas Considine managed three for a Stawell side which had 10 individual goal scorers.
Naish McRoberts and John McIntyre were once again in the best for Stawell, providing run off the half-back.
“Their skill level and composure with the ball really sets us up well,” Joiner said.
“Tommy Taurau was great as well once again. He just knows how to win the footy and move it well.”
