The theme of the event was give a little, help a lot, Stawell Neighbourhood House coordinator Lisa Arnfield said.
“If someone donated five minutes or 500 hours of their time each year, it's still making a huge difference to the community,” Ms Arnfield said.
Over 100 volunteers attended the event, with over 411 hours given by volunteers present each week.
Awards were not given on the night because the focus was on celebrating all volunteers Ms Arnfield said. Organisations have the opportunity to give awards to their volunteers at another time.
MC for the night Grampians Community Health chief executive officer Greg Little said there thousands of places people can choose to volunteer at.
“We know there are many reasons people choose to volunteer including wanting to help, improve conditions inside our community and environment, to meet other like minded people, enjoyment and fun, to keep active, to increase skills and to improve chances of gaining employment,” he said.
“The list is enormous and what a difference volunteering makes to our community.”
Northern Grampians Shire Council mayor Tony Driscoll said the community would not function without volunteers.
“The reality is that volunteers are the glue that hold our community together,” he said.
“Tonight is a small way to say thank you. But the reality is you guys will go out and volunteer for the next 52 weeks.”
