The six-week program commenced with the best young footballers in the region undergoing their first training session on Monday.
AFL Wimmera-Mallee football development manager Jason Muldoon said it is exciting to see a new group of players come through.
“It is a great honour for these kids to get a chance at a different level of football,” he said.
“The get to experience some great coaching, get some great football education and raise their standard of football.”
The squad will train for six weeks before a team is selected to represent the Wimmera academy at the V/Line Cup trials at Ararat in the coming months.
