Stawell’s Mother’s Day Classic will be held again on Mother’s Day to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).
The Classic will be held on Sunday the 13th of May, this year.
Last year, Stawell’s Mother’s Day Classic raised $10,000.
Mother’s Day Classic’s CEO Sharon Morris said “in the last 21 years the Mother’s Day Classic has raised more than $33.2 million for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
“For the last three years Stawell has played an enormous role in helping us reach that amazing figure.”
This year will be Stawell’s fourth year hosting one of the Mother’s Day Classic events.
Stawell’s Classic raises money through raffle tickets, donations and registering to participate in the walk or run, which it will continue to do in this year.
Participants can choose to run in the eight kilometre or four kilometre’s and walkers can choose to be in the four kilometre or 400 metre mobility walk. Alternatively people can choose to participate in ‘spirit’.
The event’s run or walk will leave from North Park and will continue through Iron Barks.
This year, the raffle is again one of our primary fundraising events, with two separate raffles being run.
Stawell’s Classic will run two raffles this year, with one raffle for a pink quilt made by Von Harding, with help from Ann Ellis, Marg Bates and Liz Ingram.
The other raffle will include the first prize of one night accommodation at Salingers Great Western or Servants Quarters Stawell and breakfast at Salingers.
“Some of our most successful years have been driven by the great support we receive from our regional events.” Ms Morris said.
The NBCF raises money for breast cancer research including fundraising for better therapies, greater understanding of possible ways to stop the spread of breast cancer to other areas and improved quality of life for patients and their families.
Since its establishment in 1994, NBCF has raised more than $149 million to around 489 Australian-based research projects.
You can register at the Stawell Library or the Mothers Day Classic website.
