Eventide Homes had an afternoon of entertainment and fun on Wednesday, for residents, their families and staff in celebration of the Commonwealth Games.

The festivities commenced with a traditional games parade led by residents bearing the Australian flag and an Olympic torch.
Other festivities included the singing of the national anthem and performances from dancers.
Residents have been creating Gold Coast themed decorations, for the Glyn Cashin Hall, in celebration of this years games, which included making ornamental butterflies and tropical fish.
Leisure and Lifestyle coordinator Grace Rethus said “we like to celebrate major events here at Eventide Homes, the residents really enjoy to be actively involved and it makes them feel like they are still part of the outside community.”
Their week concluded with events such as the triathlon and hockey for the residents to compete in, followed by a medal ceremony.
