Numbers were down on previous years with a significant amount of national and international shooting competitions taking place recently preventing more interstate competitors from visiting Stawell.
Club secretary-treasurer Colin Dunn said despite the lower turnout he was pleased with how the competition panned out.
“It has been going since 1969 so it is obviously a very special and important competition for us,” he said.
“We had very good support from our sponsors and shooters that competed to make the day the success that it was.”
Travis Gull was the big winner on the day, taking out the overall high gun with a score of 291/295. Gull won the 50 target pointscore and 25 target double barrel on his way to claim the high gun.
Gull took out both AA grades as well as finishing second in the 25 target single barrel AA competition.
Tim Kosch was not far behind Gull all day, but just couldn’t make his way to the front. He finished with an overall score of 290/295 to win the overall AA high gun.
Barry Smith led the way in the 25 target single barrel competition, finishing with a perfect score of 32 from 32.
Colin Dunn won the veterans high gun while Heather Ryan and Will Kosch took out the ladies and juniors respectively.
