The Wimmera is on track for at least four consecutive days of temperatures above 32 degrees from the weekend.
The Bureau of Meteorology predicts temperatures will climb into the low 30s from Sunday before peaking in the mid-30s on Tuesday.
Horsham is on track for a top of 34 degrees that day, while Warracknabeal and Nhill residents will brace for the mercury to reach 36.
Temperatures across the region will remain in the 30s on Wednesday.
Bureau forecaster Richard Russell said an increase in northerly winds from Sunday was driving the increased temperatures.
“This really brings the maximum temperatures well above average, particularly across north-western Victoria,” he said.
“Fire dangers correspondingly increase to very high across much of western Victoria.”
In contrast, the Wimmera recorded only two days with maximum temperatures above 30 degrees in April last year.
