The competition was revived for 2017-18 in an attempt to boost participation in junior netball in Stawell.
Stawell Interchurch Netball Association president Kerrie Troeth said she was pleased with the participation levels in the return season.
“The amount of numbers we got was positive,” she said.
“For the future we are looking into make the competition a bit more concrete which should help bring in even more numbers.”
With club netball generally dying down across the summer period, Troeth said the interchurch competition is “vital” to growing the game in Stawell.
“It is so crucial for us in a small town,” she said.
“It helps girls of all ages make that netball connection and become more involved.”
Seven primary school aged teams competed in the competition while just three secondary school aged teams participated. Troeth said that is somewhere the competition can improve.
“We would have liked to have seen older kids get more involved, particularly with umpiring,” she said.
“The older girls can learn a lot about the game from these opportunities.”
Despite the success of this season Troeth said more help is required to keep the association thriving into the future.
“We need more parents and netball-minded people to chip in and help,” she said.
“All of the players really enjoyed themselves so I just hope we can keep it alive for future generations.”
