The event, organised by Parks Victoria, was described as a success by Connor Smith, a Parks Victoria spokesman.
“We had great support from Friends of the Grampians Gariwerd and Cliff Care, as well as a number of walk up volunteers,” Mr Smith said.
The cleanup took a multi-pronged approach, with the majority of volunteers on the ground, and members of ‘Cliff Care Victoria’ abseiling down Reeds and Boroka Lookout in order to access the hard to reach areas.
Halls Gap Primary School also pitched in on Friday, with 48 pupils collecting four kilograms of rubbish around the Venus Baths.
Fellow Parks Victoria spokesman, Hannah Alud, echoed Connor’s sentiments.
“It’s fantastic to see that we collected so much rubbish but it is also a sad reminder of the amount of rubbish that is unfortunately being thrown around our beautiful park,” Ms Alud said.
