Barry Dettman, 51, failed to notify police of his residential address, which is part of his reporting obligations.
Dettman sparked a statewide manhunt when he escaped from Langi Kal Kal prison at Trawalla in April last year.
He was caught two days later, and released from prison later in the year.
Police issued a statement on Friday and said they believed Dettman could be frequenting the Bendigo and Werribee areas.
However police have been unable to find him.
Police released a photo of Dettman in the hope someone might recognise him and can provide police with information on his whereabouts.
Police describe him as being Caucasian in appearance with blue eyes with short grey hair, and 175cm tall with a slim build.
They have urged anyone who sees Dettman to call Triple Zero immediately.
They asked anyone with other information about his whereabouts to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
