Taurau swam with the sharks at the Melbourne aquarium as part of his personal growth award given by the Rebels last year.
The former Rebel said it was an “unreal experience”.
“I was a nit nervous they were going to eat me at first but you find out they are quite gentle,” he said.
“It was such a great opportunity.”
Taurau’s development with the Rebels resulted in him winning the award.
He said his time at the TAC Cup club has helped shape him to who he is today.
“It is such a professional system there. Not only do you become a better footballer but also a better person,” he said.
Taurau returns to the Warriors in 2018, something he is looking forward to.
“I can’t wait to get back out there with the boys and continue to enjoy my footy.”
