Waters scored 340 points to finish atop the standings, 14 points clear of junior golfer Josh Kelly in second place.
Stawell Golf Club men’s captain Richard Hackwill said the competition was exciting “right until the end”.

“It was great to see the scores so close after a long year of golf,” he said.
“It shows the scoring system we have in place worked well.”
Players accumulated points from the first event of 2017 through to the final monthly medal of the year, with competitions such as monthly medals and championships weighted more heavily than standard days.
Hackwill said Waters was rewarded for his consistency throughout the year.
“He was out there a lot this year and his regular efforts paid off.”
