Joiner took on renowned kickboxing champion Ben Edwards but was unable to come away with a victory in the heavyweight main event at Canberra’s Rex Hotel.
‘The Answer’ held his own in the opening two minutes of the fight, landing regular shots against Edwards.
Edwards was able to withstand the barrage from Joiner, and got his opponent up against the ropes before getting him to the ground.
The referee soon called the fight over, handing a TKO victory to Edwards three minutes into the bout.
It was just the second time Joiner has lost in his mixed martial arts career. The loss was Joiner’s final fight of 2017.
Despite finishing with back-to-back losses, 2017 has been a career best for Joiner. He won two fights, which included victory of the XFC heavyweight title in May.
