More than 180 people gathered at the Ballarat Sportsmens Club's August Dinner for the WestVic Academy of Sport’s Athlete of the Year presentation on Wednesday night.
Stawell Warriors netballer Tessa O’Callaghan was one of 15 nominees from a variety of sports fostered by the academy to develop young players in the region.
We are extremely proud of Tessa.

Sam Rizzo and Alanna Peart were named as the athletes of the year, for wheelchair racing and race walking respectively.
Tessa’s mother Narelle said that despite not coming away with the big award it was a privilege for Tessa to be there.
“It was a great night. We are extremely proud of Tessa,” she said.
“She represented herself really well on the night and had a lot of fun which was great.”
The under-15 netballer has had a successful few years, winning the Wimmera Netball Association under-15 runner up best and fairest award last year, as well as playing interleague and state level netball.
