Police are on the hunt for two youths, 14 and 16, who attempted to break into Stawell Newsagency on Tuesday, July 18 between 5.20 and 5.30pm.
The youths tried to enter via the rear roller door of the premises, but the noise alerted the owner who rushed from upstairs to investigate.
Stawell Sergeant Bill Alford said this frightened the two persons of interest, who fled the scene on foot.
“One was wearing a red or pink zipped jacket and grey pants, possibly school pants,” he said.
“The other, a black hoodie with the hood up, black pants and shoes carrying a distinctive purple back-pack with white and grey paint splatter marks on it.
“We are asking for public help in identifying these persons.” Anyone with information should contact Stawell Police on 5358 8222.
