Fake Facebook profile for Member for Mallee Andrew Broad sending out friend requests

Mr Broad posted on his official Facebook page at midday on Tuesday that the fake account had been sending out friend requests.

“Someone has made up a fake profile of me and we are getting onto Facebook to take it down,” Mr Broad stated.

“I don't send out friend requests so if you see this below, please ignore it. Thanks for your understanding.”

The fake profile lacks the blue ‘verified account’ badge that Facebook applies to pages for celebrities, politicians, corporations and media organisations.

Mr Broad posted a similar warning in February.

“There are some unscrupulous people creating Facebook pages based on people you may already know and be friends with,” Mr Broad stated.
