The horrendous details of her death are now able to be revealed, with magistrate Michael Allen formally making orders on Wednesday to allow publication.
Tuesday’s inquest heard Ms Cameron had resolved to end her relationship with Issa and was leaving his Kelso house when he shot her four times. The first shot came from behind as she left.
An autopsy report found she died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Detective Sergeant James Allan, who was in charge of the investigation, told the inquest Issa’s controlling nature was a factor behind Ms Cameron’s murder. Issa had said he planned to kill Ms Cameron if she refused his advances.
The inquest heard depression may also have been a factor.
Ms Cameron’s family listened stoically as the inquest was told how Issa’s body and Ms Cameron’s body were found in the lounge room of his home on Rosemont Avenue, Kelso on July 17, 2015.
Friends of the pair had become concerned when they couldn’t get in touch with them before Issa’s sister, Mona Lupp, broke into the house and found them dead in the lounge room.
Issa was on the floor; Ms Cameron was slumped against the couch.
Among her injuries was a defensive wound to her right hand, having survived the first shot to her thigh.
The inquest heard Ms Cameron was still conscious at this stage and had tried to shield herself from the second shot. In doing so, her right index finger was almost amputated.
On the evening of her death, CCTV filmed Ms Cameron arriving at Issa’s house just before 6pm.
Detective Sgt Allan said he believed she had gone to his house to discuss the relationship and he believes her murder was premeditated – it was Issa’s intention to kill Ms Cameron if she refused his advances.
Detective Sgt Allan said he believed Ms Cameron, having told Issa the relationship was over, was leaving when he got the rifle and shot her in the thigh from behind.
He then stood over her and fired two more shots into her chest. Still conscious, she tried to protect herself with her arm.
He fired a fourth shot in her chest and then shot himself.
Mr Allen found Nadia Cameron died of multiple gunshot wounds inflicted by Elie Issa.
Elie Issa died after shooting himself.
Magistrate Allen’s orders allowed publication of the court’s findings in regards to the cause, manner and circumstances of the death of Ms Cameron and Issa.
In making the order, Mr Allen said it was in the public interest for the findings to be published.
Under Section 75(5) of the Act, no report of the proceedings is allowed if a finding is made that a person’s death was self-inflicted – unless the coroner makes a specific order to the contrary.
