UPDATE:
A man has died following a horrific collision in Beaufort this morning.
Ballarat Highway Patrol Sergeant Ben Young said the 27-year-old Beaufort driver of a white utility attempted to conduct a u-turn at the intersection of the Lake Road and Skipton Road.
A ute and north-bound travelling truck collided.
The 27-year-old ute driver was critically injured and died at the scene while his 24-year-old Ballarat passenger was treated for injuries and conveyed to hospital.
The driver of the truck was uninjured and is assisting police.

Emergency services are attending what is now believed to be a fatal accident on the Skipton Road south of Beaufort.

The collision between a truck and car collided occurred at 8.30am this morning.
Earlier Ambulance Victoria spokesman Paul Bentley confirmed an air ambulance was en route to the accident on the Skipton Road a few kilometres outside of Beaufort.
One driver in his twenties with neck and shoulder injuries and facial lacerations was taken by road ambulance to the helicopter landing point and flown to Melbourne.
Details of the other driver are not yet known
All emergency services are on scene.
