Johanna Kelly and Heidi Sudholz have both relocated to Stawell for work and will add some much needed depth to the Warriors line up while Maggie Clough will come across from Navarre.
Warriors coach Kelly Cosson said Kelly and Sudholz are both up to the task of A grade netball.
“They are both young, skillful, fit and really up to the challenge,” Cosson said.
“They bring a lot of versatility with them, in fact overall we’ve got quite a versatile team this season. It makes mine and Madi’s job very hard as to deciding starting positions.”
After just one hit out as a team Cosson is looking forward to working along side the new team.
“It’s always exciting to start a new season but this year’s A Grade line up has changed dramatically from last year, so I’m really looking forward to see where this team can go,” she said.
Warriors have opted to change its game plan this season.
“Basically it comes down to ball skills and defence.” Cosson said.
“The stronger we are defensively the better we are in terms of intimidating our opposition into making mistakes and then we need to capitalise on those mistakes. Retaining the ball will be a priority because you can’t win games if you can’t retain possession.”
Under 17 players Clough and Tarnee Orr will have their first season of A grade netball after showing they are capable during the try out period.
“I think it will be quite daunting for them to start with, but the confidence and skills they will get from the more experienced on the court will be quite invaluable,” Cosson said.
The Warriors experienced players include Lisa Fleming, Madi Jelly, Jade Cross and Jemma Clarkson.
They will bring a wealth of knowledge to the side and know what standard has to be played in order to reach the goals. Ebony Summers also returns for her second season.
Warriors have two practice matches prior to the start of the season, one against Beaufort on the March 18 and one against St.Arnaud.
