EMERGENCY services called to a car roll over on the Western Highway near Deep Lead were surprised to find an empty vehicle -and no sign of the driver.
Halls Gap Sergeant Scott Olsen said the driver, an English tourist, appeared to have hitchhiked to Horsham after the crash.
“Being a tourist he might not have been aware he could call 000 to get assistance, so he made his way to Horsham’s Salvation Army and then called police,” he said.
Sergeant Olsen said the crash occurred near Mt Drummond.
He said it appeared the driver attempted to pull onto the side of the road, skidded on gravel and crashed into a culvert with the car tipping onto the roof.
Sergeant Olsen said police believe the man was uninjured in the roll over but the car sustained moderate damage.
