The first Stawell Angling competition for 2017 saw 28 senior and four juniors fishing a Stawell Club sponsored open water event.
Lake Fyans was the standout water producing most of the fish caught.
Members also tried their luck at Taylors Lake, Wartook and the Wimmera River for mixed results.
Fishing yabby bait at Lake Fyans produced the best results with gudgeon and minnows accounting for great fishing for small red fin.
Russell Bird took out the heaviest fish with a Fyans red fin tipping the scales at 1.172kg. Darren Smith had a great start to the year with his 6 red fin weighing 3.77kg taking top honours.
Ray Howard was in second place with six fish at 2.987kg. Andrew Grinhams came third with five fish that tipped the scales at 2.907kg.
No juniors had any success.
The next run will be sponsored by Stawell Newsagents and will be held at Lake Fyans commencing Saturday the 28th at 7am until noon Sunday with weigh-in at the clubhouse at 12:15.
