For the second consecutive week a swimming meet will be held for the Wimmera District Swimming competition.
The Stringrays have been full of spirit since holding their meet last week.
Coaches Bayley Dignan and Abbi Nellthorpe were pleased with the improvement between the first two meetings and are hoping to continue with that trend.
“Our results improved out of sight,” Dignan said.
“We still had too many disqualifications, but if we can get those things under control are results are only going to get better. It isn’t anything major just a bit of a fall down with technique.”
During the week at swimming training the Stringrays were working on technique under timing pressure.
While training numbers were down Dignan said it was pleasing to see all swimmers eager to better themselves from the last meeting.
“They all have an excellent attitude to training and to meets,” Dignan said.
“The coaches are starting to form really good relationships with the swimmers and the swimmers are doing their best to keep us happy so it is a win win.”
Stingrays took home seven gold medals on the day with Annaliese Spark winning five of them.
Spark smashed the under 16 competition winning the 200m freestyle, 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly, and 50m backstroke.
Dakota Healy produced one gold medal as did the under 15 boys relay.
Healy won the under 10 100m individual medley with a personal best time of 1.52.01.
Healy put in a good day of swimming setting new personal bests in four of her seven events.
In the under 15 mixed 200m relay it was Jaxon Healy, Kyle Dignan, Angus Stoffel and Nicola Hately who proved too good.
Several other swimmers performed well despite not reaching the top of the podium.
India Warren recorded four third placings from her five events and Natalie Perry was also in good form.
The Stringrays labelled their home meeting a success and said it wouldn't be possible without the support of sponsors.
“There is a lot of work that goes into holding a meeting,” Dignan said.
“From all the sponsors who donated food, the referee Cath Perry and starter Geoff Ough, we can not thank them enough.”
Dignan is expecting another strong contingent to make their way to Horsham.
Dignan will put himself to the test when he swims as part of the committee relay event.
“It will be good to get in the water rather than coaching,” Dignan said.
“I hope I don’t embarrass myself because I am sure the kids will be watching.”
The swim meet is at Horsham Sports and Aquatic Centre and starts at noon.
