An estimated 392 properties in and around Halls Gap, including Lake Bellfield, Fyans Creek, Mount Dryden and Lake Lonsdale, will have access to the fixed wireless service.
An NBN Company spokesman said the Halls Gap tower had been waiting on other telecommunications infrastructure to be completed.
“The Halls Gap tower is downstream from the Mt William relay tower and therefore could not be switched on until that tower was activated,” he said.
“With the Mt William tower recently activated, the Halls Gap tower is scheduled to come on line within the next month, which means that about 400 homes and businesses in the area will be able to access an NBN service.
“People interested in getting an nbn broadband service should speak with their phone or internet company.”
Wireless NBN promises to deliver internet speeds similar to those enjoyed by residents in town centres via towers similar to those used by the mobile phone network.
Properties will need to install a rooftop antenna and have line-of-sight with an NBN tower in order to access the service.
Work commenced on NBN towers around Halls Gap in July 2014 with the latest update from the federal communications department stating that the tower should have been activated in July 2016.
