Stawell Show organising committee president Geoff Erwin said he was pleased with the outcome of this year’s show despite numbers being slightly down from last year.
“The attendance was great, despite the cold weather which would have kept a few away,” Mr Erwin said.
“This year’s show had many highlights including the ladies pavilion which was extremely popular with over 1000 entries, and the photography competition was also up on entries with well over 300.”
The animal nursery stall also proved to be a hit among show goers.
Stall owner assistant Mandy Nicol said the stall was busy for the entire show.
“The animal nursery had people in it the whole day and the kids just loved it,” Ms Nicol said.
“We had ducks and ducklings, sheep, donkeys, and even a ferret race which generated a lot of excitement from the crowd.
“This stall is always a popular one at the show and this year was no exception.”
The Best Showgirl Competition was again hugely contested. The winning trophy went to India Warren of Stawell and the runner-up went to Indi O’Callaghan, also from Stawell.
The Stawell Show Champion winner went to William Beaton from Stawell Primary School.
Full results from all Stawell Show competitions will be announced in Friday's edition.
Organising committee member Sheryll Hall said the committee should be proud of their efforts for getting impressive numbers through the gates despite major events occurring in Halls Gap on the same weekend.
“Considering there was a massive jazz festival going on in Halls Gap and a vintage car display on the same weekend the turnout was impressive at this year’s show,” Ms Hall said.
“We also took into account the weather and tried to provide people with as much shelter as possible.
”We aim to always improve the show and continue to be a very progressive committee for one of the best shows in the Wimmera and further afield.”
