Scheduled for Sunday, November 4 at Lake Fyans, this initiative will commence at 10am and conclude at 4pm.
The aim of the national initiative is to offer a free sailing experience to any member of the public who would like to learn more about the mysteries of sailing.
Any novice or experienced sailor will be welcomed to the club, and should be able to either come for a sail with one of our members or take a training boat out for themselves after some instruction.
Life jackets will be supplied by the club on the day. It is advised participants bring a wind proof jacket and a tightly woven woollen jumper if the weather is cool.
The club will be running a gold coin donation barbecue on the day and soft drinks will be on sale. Feel free to bring a picnic lunch if the weather is co-operative. Anyone who has visited Lake Fyans recently will know that the club is currently blessed with a good supply of water and with spring weather starting to take effect, young children will love the sandy beach directly in front of the club rooms.
The sailing club is located less than 500 metres beyond the Lake Fyans Holiday Park which is on the north side of the lake on Mokepilly Road.
Participants under the age of 18 will need a signed permission form by a parent or guardian. Forms are available either on the club's website or at the club on the day. For more information please go to the Stawell Yacht Club website at syc.sailing.org.au or contact either Peter Knight (club commodore) on 0419 593 244, or Tony Hillier on 5352 5760.
