The red gum tree was the July winner of the Trees of the Wimmera competition.
The giant red gum sits on a property owned by Paul and Wendy Harrington.
Wimmera Landcare is running the Wimmera-wide competition. The monthly competition includes a theme for each month and a short story.
The themes chosen for the first six months were:
- July – Biggest Tree
- August – Bulloke
- September – Oldest Tree
- October – Best Specimen Tree
- November – Wattle
- December – Favourite School-yard Tree
Entrants in the competition need to submit a clear photo and supporting information. The cut-off date is the last Friday of each month.
