The golf day has been organised to support fundraising efforts of Stawell Secondary College students, who are travelling to Cambodia early next year.
Mr Waack thanked the organisers for the opportunity to become part of the program, as his involvement via his business operations in Stawell, Ararat and Horsham, allow him to work closely with the younger folk in those towns, particularly via the school based apprentice program and also via employment.
He said this can only be a good thing for the students to visit a country such as Cambodia and work there.
"They will gain so much from a trip of this nature and will bring this feeling for their local community back with them and that will only be good for the town," Mr Waack said.
Rotary Stawell Past District Governor, Ted Gaffney, said the support from Mr Waack was the icing on the cake for the fundraiser, which will support the Stawell Secondary College students.
Mr Gaffney thanked Stawell Golf Club for the use of the club's facilities on Sunday.
Assistance has also been provided by the Lions Club of Stawell, who have been extremely supportive of the students, along with other service clubs, church groups, businesses in the town, Northern Grampians Shire Council and the general public.
The golf day this Sunday gets underway at 12.30pm.
