Stawell College principal Nick Lynch said each home group had a choose a country.
“Each group was given a room and turned the room into their chosen country,” he said.
“The students had a passport and travelled around the school, from country to country.”
Mr Lynch said the day included a range of activities.
“We had Indian cooking,” he said.
“But it wasn’t just about food or clothing, the students also learnt facts about each country, such as population compared with Australia.
“It was informative but fun.”
Mr Lynch said the students did a great job with their chosen countries.
“The group that had the Australian room did a very good job – they had a barbecue and put sand of the ground for the lifeguards to sit on,” he said.
“It was very quirky and funny.”
Mr Lynch said the day involved the entire schools.
“The home groups are made up of students from year 7 to 12, so it was a good chance for different year levels to work together,” he said.
“They all seemed to enjoy it.”
Mr Lynch said the day was an annual event.
