It is the club's second biggest meeting of the year behind the Cup on Easter Sunday. With a number of different attractions organised for this year it is sure to be a hit.
With seven races on the card, the Newmarket Gold Stawell Gold Mines Christmas Race Day is shaping up to be a day of celebration for many.
The day is expected to attract several families from throughout Stawell and district along with businesses who will be celebrating their Christmas parties.
The seven race meeting will feature local industry leaders including trainers Terry and Karina O’Sullivan, Doug Whitworth, Paul Jones and Dane Smith and the only Stawell jockey Chelsea Hall.
One of the many drawcards for the day will be the Off The Bench marquee.
The Off The Bench team including Dr Turf, Craig Hutchinson and Liam Pickering will broadcast live from 9.00am until midday.
Special guest will be jockey Jack Hill who looks set for a return to the sport in the not too distant future.
The marquee package offers racecourse admission, finger food, five hour beverage package and a race book for the price of $100.
In between the racing action there will be live music on the grass and Santa will also be making an appearance.
Santa will make his way through the crowd in the afternoon and will be handing out lollies and be available for photos.
For the younger children who might not be interested in the horse racing there will be other activities.
General admission tickets are from $15 at the gate.
The gates open at 9.00am.
Following the last race there will be a courtesy bus operating to transport patrons from the Stawell Racecourse to the Main Street.
