The meeting kicked off what will be a big year of racing for the Stawell Racing Club.
Rebound was having only her second career start, but punters had every faith in the three-year-old filly getting the job done.
With Daniel Moor in the saddle, Rebound was able to dictate terms and ran away from her rivals to win by more than four lengths in the end, justifying the $1.70 price tag.
Jamie Edwards trained galloper Moralto continued his good form this preparation with a win in the Legends Errol Gready & Robyn O’Sullivan Maiden Plate.
Ridden by Craig Robertson, Moralto appreciated the step up to 1600 metres to win by almost a length.
Moralto had raced first up over 1200 metres for a third placing and finished strongly over the longer journey last week to break through for his maiden win.
The father and daughter combination of Wayne and Kate Walters combined for victory in the Ecycle Solutions Ecycle Solutions 0 - 58 Handicap with Manny.
The six year old gelding raced wide throughout the 2000 metre journey and did a good job to hold his rivals at bay. After two seconds at Warracknabeal and Strathalbyn, Manny was always given a chance and in the end, won the event by a length.
Racing will return to Stawell again next Monday.
