It was the first gallops meeting in Stawell since April and it didn't disappoint, with a good crowd turning up to watch the eight race program.
Stawell didn't have to wait long for a local winner, with O'Sullivan-trained Quizman scoring a narrow first up win in the 1100 metre St Kilda Road Parkview Hotel Maiden Plate.
Terry O'Sullivan was 'thrilled' with the four year old's performance.
"We're really happy with him. We thought he was some chance without definitely winning," O'Sullivan said.
"We're pretty delighted he actually got the money. He's fairly new to this."
O'Sullivan said Quizman will have a couple more runs before having a spell.
"He'll have a bit of rest through spring and will come back and be a nice horse."
Bowditch then guided home O'Sullivan's second win for the afternoon onboard Brilliant Park in the 1600 metre Eck's Electrics & Solar Handicap.
In a thrilling photo finish, the result eventually went Brilliant Park's way by the narrowest of margins in front of the Go Shigemi-trained Captain Segal.
"It was close alright. It looked like a dead heat to me, but we were happy to get the prize," O'Sullivan said.
"He had a soft lead, but stuck his head out and did a good job."
Monday's win was Brilliant Park's second from 11 starts.
"His first up win was okay and the other day he ran well at Echuca in a really strong race - much stronger field than at Stawell, so we thought he had a strong chance," O'Sullivan said.
Brilliant Park will possibly head across to Bendigo to contest another 1600 metre event.
