WITH less than a week to go before we commemorate the centenary of the Gallipoli campaign and Anzac Day, Stawell and district residents are being urged to show their appreciation and pride for the men and women who have continued to serve our nation in the tradition of our early diggers.

By showing their appreciation and support to Anzac Day, residents will be given the opportunity to win some fantastic commemorative prizes following the Anzac Day services in the region.
The aim is to get social media buzzing in tribute to our diggers of old and to show our younger diggers across all services that we have their backs.
Whether you, a family member, or a mate served; or if you have been touched by what you have seen or heard, this is a chance to reflect on your own experiences or to pay tribute to others. #DiggersTribute is a simple idea. Just by sharing a picture of yourself (alone, with family, with mates) or by taking a picture of something that captures the spirit of service, you are saying you understand, or at least you are listening.
Through the #DiggersTribute campaign, images and messages will be shared and at the same time, money will be raised for Soldier On to support today's veterans.
It is through the Australia in the Great War collections that $250,000 has been raised for Soldier On and its work with modern-day diggers who have been wounded - physically and emotionally - serving our country.
The competition is simple. Snap a pic, tag it #diggerstribute and upload it to the Stawell Times News website or Facebook page.
These 'selfies' should honour local veterans and depict local people, local places, local service.
They can tell the Anzac story ranging from the Great War and Gallipoli to the service of men and women in the ADF today. As these images upload they pay tribute to the people in your area who have served and continue to do so.
The competition will be drawn following Anzac Day and winners notified.
So start snapping, including at the Anzac Day services in Stawell or Great Western and upload your images to the website or Facebook page for your chance to win.
