The General Practitioner, his wife Susie and three daughters will relocate at the end of the year, where Dr Osborne-Rigby will take up a position with Ballarat Medical Centre.
"With our youngest daughter starting high school next year and another starting year 11, it's a good time for us to move and try something new," Dr Osborne-Rigby said.
"We've really enjoyed our life in Stawell, and I've gained a lot from my time with the Stawell Medical Centre and with the Stawell Regional Health. Rural doctoring certainly provides broad experience across acute, surgical and trauma health care."
Dr Osborne-Rigby, originally from the UK, said his family was initially attracted to a lifestyle in Stawell because it was a small community close to the Grampians National Park - a refreshing change from the bustling cities.
"Stawell's a lovely place to raise children; safe and friendly," he said. "Unlike the larger hospitals in the UK, you have more of a connection with the community in smaller towns.
We'll always have a connection to Stawell and the friends we've made here."
Dr Osborne-Rigby added that he also enjoyed his 10 year involvement with the Murray to Moyne bike ride as part of the Stawell Medical Centre 'Sprockets' fundraising team.
Partner Dr Andrew Cunningham wished Dr Osborne-Rigby and his family well for the future.
"John has been an integral part of the Stawell Medical Centre," he said.
"We will continue to offer the same high quality of care both here and at Stawell Regional Health, and endeavor to recruit the most suitable doctors for our practice."
