Located at Currie House, the new Bill Crow Courtyard was unveiled in front of staff, residents and guests, including the family of the late Wilfred Alan Crow. It was a bequest from Mr Crow, who lived at Eventide Homes from 2005 to 2009, that enabled the courtyard to be refurbished.
Eventide Homes chief executive Sue Blakey said she was delighted that the unveiling could take place as part of the community celebration to mark 60 years since Eventide Homes first opened.
"This fantastic all-access communal space is now known as the Bill Crow Courtyard," Mrs Blakey said.
"Stawell landscaper Russell Waring has done a great job on the construction, which includes an alfresco dining area, seating and paths.
"We were delighted to be able to share the unveiling with Bill's children and their families."
Mrs Blakey said the bequest also enabled Eventide to install artificial lawn, raised garden beds, plants and trees, an automatic sprinkler system and the required drainage. There is also a dedicated space for residents to park motorised gophers.
The celebration itself attracted a good crowd, with Stawell and district residents turning out in force for the community celebration.
Mrs Blakey said former staff, family and friends of Eventide, as well as community members, enjoyed the event.
The celebrations kicked off with lunch, followed by the official courtyard opening and then tours of the facilities.
Mrs Blakey said residents welcomed the opportunity to take part in the tours, to view the facilities that Eventide has to offer.
