Stawell's event will kick off at 6pm tonight with a free community barbecue and children's games in the Town Hall carpark.
There will be Christmas Carols and face painting at 7pm, followed by the arrival of Santa at 7.30pm. Opportunities will be presented for children to have their photos taken with Santa in the photo booth.
The Christmas Tree light up will take place at 8.30pm, followed by a twilight cinema with the screening of How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Similar events are planned for St Arnaud tomorrow night and Stoney Creek in Halls Gap on Friday, December 5.
Mayor Cr Kevin Erwin said the Light Up Nights were an opportunity for council and the community to join together and get into the Christmas spirit.
"We know how busy this time of year can get, so it is particularly important to have an event where families can come and relax, socialise and enjoy some entertainment," he said.
"We are really looking forward to seeing as many people as possible attend their local event and welcome in the festive season."
