Council is calling for applications from people aged 12-25 living or working in the shire.
Successful applicants will be responsible for implementing the YAC's recently launched Youth Strategy which focuses on four key areas - recreation and events, health, safety, and wellbeing, education and employment, and leadership and community connections.
Councillor Karen Hyslop said the YAC provided an excellent opportunity for young people to make a difference in their community.
"The YAC is a practical way for young people to create change in the shire," she said.
"We often hear our younger residents saying that there's nothing to do in their town or expressing concern around issues like education, employment, health and safety.
"We want to see them turn these thoughts into action and the YAC provides a real, supported and practical avenue for them to do that."
In 2015, the YAC will be organising a number of events, including Australia Day and National Youth Week celebrations. They will also be focusing on the issue of drugs and alcohol across the shire, and investigating the idea of a youth hub.
Those wishing to apply for a position on the YAC must be available for an interview on Thursday, November 27 or Friday, November 28 and for a compulsory 2015 planning session with youth motivational speaker Nathan Hulls on Sunday, December 7.
Applications are open now and close on Monday, November 24. Applications can be completed online at www.ngshire.vic.gov.au/YAC.
