The Stawell Primary School student attended the state finals along with three other students and their German teacher, Natalie Cooper last Saturday at the Austrian Club in Heidelberg.
Laura was outstanding as she took out the grade six state award, making a 14-year long dream come true for Mrs Cooper.
The other students who represented the school were Tahlia Wilson, Olivia Cole and Leilanie Pridan and all put in an excellent effort at the state finals.
Success in the state competition followed on from excellent performances by students from Stawell Primary School at the Wimmera regional German Poetry competition in Horsham.
Six students in grades five and six competed successfully at Horsham
It was a fantastic effort by the students, as not only did students have to learn a German poem by heart, they also had to recite it in front of an audience of 60 or more people.
Laura's win at state level was the icing on the cake after Stawell Primary School scooped the pool in Horsham, filling the placings in all categories.
