The Commonwealth and Victorian Governments each contributed $4.2 million to the 49 projects to be rolled out across Victoria, with the remaining funding contributed by the applicants.
"As a leader in emergency management response, the Victorian Coalition Government aims to ensure communities are prepared for, and ready to respond to, all emergencies," Mr Turner said.
"Having prepared and resilient communities is critical, and in turn helps our emergency services when they respond to a flood, fire, storm or other natural disaster."
Funding in the Ripon electorate will go towards projects totalling over $1 million, including:
Charlton Flood and Drainage Management Plan Implementation - Functional Design Flood Protection Levees. This project involves the design and detailed costing of flood protection levees to protect the township of Charlton from future flood events up to a repeat of the January 2011 flood event (i.e. a 0.5% AEP flood event).
Charlton Flood and Drainage Management Plan Implementation - Construction of Charlton-St Arnaud Road Floodway Year 1 of 2. This project involves the construction of a floodway on Charlton-St Arnaud Road at Gowar Creek to prevent floodwaters affecting a number of properties in Charlton from smaller flood events.
Donald Flood and Drainage Management Plan Implementation - Flood Protection Levees Year 1 of 2. This project involves the construction of two flood protection levees to protect the township of Donald from future flood events up to a repeat of the January 2011 flood event.
"The Donald Flood and Drainage Management Plan will assist the Donald community to be more resilient and better prepared, and hopefully lessen the impact of any future emergency."
Mr Turner said resilience forms a key part of the Victorian Coalition Government's White Paper on Emergency Management reform.
"Under the White Paper reforms, there will be a greater focus on mitigating hazards and supporting community-based planning," Mr Turner said.
"These reforms will change the way we prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies. It is the first major overhaul of Victoria's emergency management system since 1986.
"I congratulate the successful recipients and look forward to the work they do to help make our state safer," Mr Turner said.
