The committee has again decided to focus on making the event family friendly and is keen to attract a large number of people holidaying in the region.
As one of Australia's leading annual rodeos, The Fielders Great Western rodeo will feature many of the country's leading champions in an action packed evening of thrills and spills from outstanding courageous riders.
"This year's rodeo will be one of the best ever. We have planned another spectacular event that is sure to excite rodeo enthusiasts and local public alike," event manager, Leigh Cadzow, said.
The gates will open at 10am Friday morning. The preliminary events will kick off at midday with the main rodeo commencing at 3pm. This year the organisers have employed a country and western band to play from midday until the rodeo proper commences about 3pm, while popular band 'Last Stand' will provide the evening's entertainment, performing live from 9pm until midnight.
The Carlton Draught Clydesdales will be in attendance from 1 pm to 3pm. The Clydesdales are a very sought after attraction and the rodeo is very pleased that they could attend.
This is strictly a no BYO event, with security enforcement in place. A licensed bar will offer drinks at reasonable prices and a variety of food vendors will be present, together with a range of children's entertainment options.
Major rodeo sponsor, Fielders Steel Roofing, is supporting the event for the third time this year with the aim of promoting their name in the region. Fielders are a major steel supplier in all Australian states and are renowned for supplying quality colorbond products at very competitive prices. It is envisaged that Fielders will continue to support the rodeo.
As well as Fielders, many local businesses have again come on board to support the event. The support of these businesses ensures that the event is a success each year. "It's fantastic that so many are sponsoring the event this year. We can't stress enough how important our sponsors are," Leigh said.
"They are always there to help the community and we want them to know that we appreciate their support. We invite any business thinking of becoming one of the rodeo's sponsors to join our growing team either this year or next."
The event is part of the annual fundraising calendar for the Great Western Football and Netball Club with most local clubs benefiting from their participation in The Fielders Great Western Rodeo. These include the Great Western Archery Club, Pony Club and Recreation Reserve Committee of Management. All proceeds from the event support the continued growth and development of the clubs that form what is the heart of a local community.
Entry fees are adults $20, aged concession $10, children under 16 - $10, family of 2 adults and 2 children $50 (additional children $10, children under five are free.
There is free camping available on the reserve for the Friday night. Anyone wishing to stay longer may do so for a small fee. Good amenities are located within the reserve which makes it an ideal location for the family, ute traveller or backpacker alike.
On Saturday morning a recovery breakfast will be available for a small charge from 6.30am. The hot breakfast is really welcomed by the late night revellers.
"It is important to us that everyone has a fantastic night and we are always aiming to improve the rodeo experience for all who attend," Leigh said.
"Not many people have been to a rodeo, we want to get them here so they can see what an exciting event it can be. Kids are thrilled by the animals and entertained by the clowns. The rodeo riders are very skilled and everyone does their best to win."
